Promising actress Cristine Reyes is still reeling from the success of her show “Eva Fonda” at the recently-concluded Seoul International Drama Awards 2009.
Held Sept. 11 at the Olympic Hall in Olympic Park, the Seoul International Drama Awards honored “Eva Fonda” with a special prize award in the drama category. Around 169 soap operas from 37 countries competed in that and other categories back then.
Cristine personally accepted the special prize award in which “Eva Fonda” bested Iran's “Token,” UK's “Britannia High,” Singapore's “Fighting Spiders,” Turkey's “Forbidden Love” and Russia's “Fathers and Sons.”
The ABS-CBN soap opera's triumph in the Seoul International Drama Awards 2009 was a first for the Philippines since the festival’s inception four years ago.

And although Cristine did not win the best actress trophy, she got to present two awards in the ceremony attended by international celebrities.
While in Korea, the “Eva Fonda” star also visited the malls and sampled the food.
"Masayang-masaya. Ibang experience. Kahit 'yong mga Koreans here, tinatawag akong Eva Fonda," she said in a phone interview aired on “Showbiz News Ngayon” Sept. 11.
Cristine was amazed how the people received her in Seoul.
"Pagdating ko rito, natutuwa ako at nakikilala nila ako--at nagpapa-picture din sila! Kahit isipin mo nga na Koreans sila, di ko alam na interested din pala sila sa gawang Pinoy. Nakakataba ng puso," she said.
